Markaz Knowledge City received permanent membership in Intercity Intangible Cultural Cooperation Network (ICCN), a UNESCO recognized organization. The 9th General Assembly of ICCN based in Valencia, Spain established for the conservation and development of urban heritage, was held in Kozhikode as its first Assembly in India. Assembly representatives are from Spain, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Brazil and South Korea. Assembly representatives including mayors from Spain, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Brazil and South Korea came to Kozhikode.
In the program presided by Dr.Jayarajan, Director of ICCN was Mr. Julio Blasco Nacher, Secretary General of ICCN declared the membership of Markaz Knowledge City in his inaugural address. Dr. Abdussalam Muhammad, C.E.O of Markaz Knowledge City delivered the keynote address.
Nacho Sylvester, Paula Marques Maar Villa, Metsiri Alexander de Silva, Faisal Meitra, Dr. Muhammed Abdul Hakkim Azhari, Dr. Nizam Rahman and Nooruddin Mustafa Nurani felicitated the event.
Mayors from 26 cities that have declared conservation of heritage arts as a policy were present at the assembly along with museum directors, academicians and others from various walks of life.
Following the Interactive session of officials and students of various institutes of Markaz Knowledge City with members of the General Assembly the programme was concluded by an exhibition of various Mappila arts.
