Pre- Summit Events Kicks Off at Markaz Knowledge City
Kozhikode: Malaysia's former Deputy Prime Minister and People's Justice Party leader Dato' Anwar Ibrahim has stated that it is the responsibility of mankind to ensure the security of future generations through responsible utilization of natural resources. He said that the threats caused by climate change can be overcome only by protecting the environment and its biodiversity and there should be academic and administrative efforts to create a sustainable society by overcoming the greed for consumption. He was speaking while inaugurating the pre-summit projects prior to the International Climate Summit, to be held at Markaz Knowledge City from October 17 to 19 on how to mitigate climate change issues. As part of the summit, he undertook a social afforestation campaign of 100 acres of land by planting a 'Pride of India' (Poomarut) sapling in Knowledge City. Dr. Abdul Hakkim Al Kandi, Managing Director of Knowledge City, was present.
This marked the beginning of various programmes to promote nature conservation in view of the International Climate Summit. Inter-Generational Dialogues will be conducted for students with the goal of passing over ideas of conservation of nature by contemporaries, involving older generations, environmentalists and commoners. It is expected that the eco-friendly message can be conveyed to one hundred thousand students through the Inter Generation Dialogues.
